Background
The company had a clear need to streamline and improve its processes and ways of working. A large amount of manual work, combined with the fact that information in existing systems was not being fully utilized, led the organization to see a need to accelerate digitalization. The ambition was to drive digital initiatives across several areas and business processes throughout the global organization.
Assignment Description
The assignment consisted of establishing strategic and tactical governance for the digitalization efforts in close collaboration with executive management and IT. This included creating a structure for managing a portfolio of transformation and digitalization initiatives, anchoring a long-term IT roadmap, and ensuring the execution of initiatives through several parallel projects over multiple years. The work also included ongoing follow-up of status, priorities, and decisions within a strategic steering committee.
Results of the Assignment
The result of the assignment was that the digitalization of business processes could be driven forward at a faster pace. Structures and forums were established for prioritizing and governing initiatives, projects delivered tangible results and created clear business value, and the quality of information in the company’s IT systems improved. The established governance model also contributed to better alignment, follow-up, and long-term direction for the organization’s transformation initiatives.
